The Colorado Front Range has become known as Silicon Mountain because of the booming startup and tech scene. Denver is the epicenter of the action with a high-momentum tech community and rapidly-expanding talent pool. With 10,000 miles of trails, 15 national forest, 41 state parks, 58 peaks that rise above 14,000 feet and and dozens of world-class winter sport destinations Colorado is also the ultimate outdoor playground and a key market for Strava. Strava looks forward to contributing to the Denver community and will focus first on building product development and design teams.

“With the abundance of talent in Denver, we know it’s a perfect fit for our mission and team,” says James Quarles, Strava CEO. “Colorado is a magnet for tech companies and active people because of its progressive approach to city planning and the outdoors. We’re excited about this next stage for Strava’s expansion.”

For Strava’s already strong Colorado athlete base, Denver provides endless opportunity for running, cycling, mountain biking, skiing, paddling and climbing. With that as the backdrop, the available engineers, product designers, product managers, and similar talent offer an excellent starting point to blend Denver’s culture into Strava’s product and vice versa. “Strava made a great decision in choosing Colorado as their third U.S. location,” said Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. “They will have access to a highly educated and energetic workforce. Colorado shares their values and is dedicated to protecting our outdoors and ensuring opportunities for all to live a healthy lifestyle.”

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is one of the 130+ organizations that works with Strava Metro to help make riding, running and walking in cities better.
