SF2G and Blekko win Strava’s May 2010 Bike-to-Work Challenge

Posted by Michael Horvath on June 2nd, 2010

Strava’s May 2010 Bike-to-Work Challenge has come to a close with 53 Strava Clubs logging commutes totaling over 33,600mi/53,760km in the month. You can see the full results of the challenge on our leaderboard. We’d like to recognize and congratulate the clubs SF2G and Blekko for taking top honors in the Total Distance and Distance per Member competitions.

SF2G stands for “San Francisco to Google” though the club reportedly admits (recruits?) riders from other employers. The 57 members of SF2G on Strava managed to commute over 8,400mi/13,440km during the month of May to win the Total Distance competition. As a prize for SF2G, Strava is sending a box of t-shirts and other Strava gear as well as contributing beer-money towards a celebratory party.

On the other end of the spectrum, Blekko is a 2-person club comprised of Bryn Dole and Bob Truel. They are winners of the Distance per Member competition accruing an average of 480mi/768km per member during the month of May. (Faithful blog readers may remember that Bryn Dole also logged Strava’s Millionth Mile in mid-April.) Bryn and Bob will each get a $75 gift certificate to the bike shop of their choice.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Strava 2010 Bike-to-Work Challenge. Together we saved over 14 metric tonnes of CO2 in just the month of May alone. Keep up the great commuting!
